Paola Antonelli

Paola Antonelli is Senior Curator in the Department of Architecture and Design at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), where she is also the founding Director of Research and Development. Since joining MoMA in 1994, she has explored design in all its forms and its intersections with technology, biology, popular culture, and the lives of individuals, communities, and other species. Through exhibitions, writing, lectures, and MoMA’s R&D Salons, she champions design as a vital force for understanding and shaping the world.

Trained as an architect at the Polytechnic of Milan, Antonelli has curated numerous exhibitions at MoMA and internationally, including Broken Nature at the XXII Triennale di Milano and Material Ecology at MoMA. She has lectured worldwide, from TED to the World Economic Forum, and has received numerous honors, including the Smithsonian Institution’s National Design Award, the AIGA Medal, the London Design Medal, and induction into the Art Directors Club Hall of Fame.
